A good place to start particularly if you are relatively new to knitting to look for patterns is the yarn skein, which comes wrapped and nearly every one of these will have a pattern on it. I drain the water, squashing the sweater into the bowl to get rid of the water. Knitting has been around for thousands of years, and probably always will be. The darning needle is used in duplicate stitch (also known as Swiss darning), while the crochet hook is also essential for repairing dropped stitches and some specialty stitches such as tufting.
Dpns are somewhat shorter (typically 7 inches) and are usually sold in sets of four or five. Yarns are grouped by thickness into six categories: superfine, fine, light, medium, bulky and superbulky; quantitatively, thickness is measured by the number of wraps per inch (WPI).
Most new knitters should start with some of the basic patterns listed above and work on mastering basic stitches. Brainstorm, and figure out which way of teaching would be best for you and your students!
